A brand new campaign encourages children under 12 to complete a 50 things-to-do project. The junior ‘Bucket List’ is revealed in which experts try to convince kids that it’s fun to play outdoors and skip spending time with computer games. According to DailyMail the National Trust created a list of “50 things to do before you’re 11¾”.
The results of the latest researches demonstrate that only a few children experienced the pleasure and adventure of playing outside. The junior ‘bucket list’ enlists some of the following activities :climbing a tree, camping out in the wild, visiting an island or lighting a fire without matches. Besides these extremely fun tasks kids will also have dozens of things to do in order to complete this project. Parents can join their children in these activities this way spending precious time together like a real family. The campaign will be launched on April 21 when no less than 200 National Trust properties will invite children to spend some time outdoors and engage in different amazing activities.
Fiona Reynolds, director general of the National Trust claimed that, “Children today are completely unfamiliar with that feeling.[...] They need to be given the confidence and the skills to go into the wood and build a den or climb a tree. The outdoors is a treasure trove, rich in imagination.[...] It brings huge benefits that we believe every child should have the opportunity to experience. And there are huge costs when they don’t.”.
Helen Meech as an expert from the National Trust also added that, “We wanted a mix of activities so younger children can get involved, but also harder ones for those near to 11¾.[...]Research has shown it is important for children to have a love of nature before the age of 12.”.
