REM’s ‘Everybody Hurts’ Voted Most Depressing Song of All Time

REM’s Everybody Hurts was voted as the most depressing song of all time according to a survey made by theater producer David King. The research reveals that listening to a sad tune made seven out of ten men shed tears. Moreover, the same study shows that one in five females ‘often’ cried when hearing a sad song.

Based on the same survey, ‘Everybody Hurts’ by American band REM gain the title as the most depressing song of all time, followed by Elton John’s ‘Candle in the Wind’ and Mike and the Mechanics’ ‘The Living Years’. Whitney Houston’s ‘I will always love you’ came fourth, while Coldplay’s ‘Fix You’ was eighth.

“I was really interested in finding out a bit more about the power of music and how it affects us all,” David King said. “To be honest I wasn’t one bit surprised that men have such a strong reaction to music. I have been in and around music all my life and I know just what a powerful effect it can have on people,” he added.

According to the study, most people cry at home, but nuptial music can also be extremely emotional with four in ten women admitting they had cried. Besides, a sad song on the car radio can also reduce many of us to tears, with 23 per cent of men and 33 per cent of women admitting to crying behind the wheel.

Amy Winehouse Drank Herself To Death

The tragic death of the young performer shocked the whole world. In spite of the up-and-coming news related to her drug and alcohol addiction the cause of her actual death was still an enigma. The Dailymail now reveals the actual triggering factor that led to this dramatic event. Amy Winehouse ‘drank herself to death only hours after saying she was desperate to live because she still had so much to achieve’.

The tremendous amount of alcohol in her organism sent her into a coma. Investigators found no less than 3 empty vodka bottles near her body on the day she died. The pathologist who examined Amy’s body claimed that ‘she had 416mg of alcohol per decilitre of blood – five times the legal drink-drive limit of 80mg’ (Dailymail.com).

Amy Winehouse’s doctor revealed that the singer repeatedly disregarded the his warnings related to the dangers of alcohol consumption. Private GP Christina Romete has serious doubts about the real intention of the diva to drink herself to death. Hours before her death Amy confessed that, “I do not want to die… I have not achieved a lot of the things I wanted.’ The same specialist claimed that, Amy made “tremendous efforts” to combat her alcohol addiction and get back on track with her life. We also find out the opinion of Dr. Romete about the last hours of the singer, “She was calm, she was coherent, she was tipsy but she didn’t slur and she was able to hold a full conversation,’ she said. ‘I wasn’t concerned that she was suicidal, she hadn’t expressed a wish to die.”

Visitors to the Festival will enjoy music styles from across the spectrum of funk, soul, hip-hop, dance, reggae and indie rock.  Artists performing this year include roots and experimental dub reggae group, Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad, Tony Ozier and the Doo Doo Funk All-Stars along with the hip-hop artist known for the theme music for the TV series, The Boondocks, Asheru and his band The ELs.

Recording artist, Mustafa Akbar, known to his fans as Mustabar, created the Festival eight years ago. The yearly music event was born of Mustafa’s desire to share his love for his family’s land in Central Virginia.  That passion evolved into an opportunity to showcase the music of his fellow artists and celebrate summer with surrounding communities.

“This land has been in my family since 1882,” says Mustafa.  ”Just as my mom’s siblings and their families and friends would gather for parties, fish fries and music, the tradition has been carried on.  I cannot wait to share the cool vibe and hot lineup with fans this year. Mustock 2010 will be the best.”

The festival will see an added element this year: a nightly music tent.  Philadelphia’s own Rob Paine of Solomonic Sound System and Washington, DC’s Nappy Riddem, will host the Dub Tent on Friday night.  DJ Jahsonic (also from DC), Thunderball and Alexandria, Virginia’s All Good Funk Alliance, host the Funk, Soul and Hip-Hop Tent on Saturday night.

Mustock 2010 is open to music lovers of all ages during the day, with the nightly music tent being for those 21 years of age and older.  Tickets are on sale with prices ranging from $25 for day passes to $65 for weekend passes.  Camping is included in the price of weekend passes.  Discounted tickets may be purchased at www.mustockllc.com until Tuesday, July 27.
